This cap has external threads that thread into the housing of the tool. Be careful when removing and replacing these, they have a tendency to break. A wire burned off from the stator where it goes on the contact spring
Remove the blade & guard. Remove the handle & disconnect the wires. Remove the motor and armature. Remove the 2 screws holding the stator in, and remove the stator. Installation is reverse procedure, using care to line the stator up correctly, and push the contact springs over the brush holder as you push the stator into place.
