  • Great part... too bad
I received the part for my hoover carpet shampooer and it fit perfectly... too bad the shampooer was junk :-(. After I put the part on it, the brushes worked long enough to finish the room I'd been shampooing before the original part broke... then something else broke... have no idea what it was that time... the shampooer (along with the brush gear I bought) are now at the junk yard... I probably should have taken the new part out and either tried to get reimbursed or sell it cause it cost $48... oh well, I was just so mad about the shampooer, I just wanted it out of my sight! BUT again, the part I bought from ereplacementparts, worked perfect, even if it was a bit expensive and the shampooer was junk! Thank you!

I removed the brushes and found the plastic drive shaft was broken.
I took the assembly to my local dealer who wanted to sell me a new one for like $100
I went to Replacement Parts and found the part for $3.00
Received the part quickly, slid into the hole, tightened the screw, put the brushes back and viola, it worked like a charm.

Removed the rotating brush assembly, (plastic tabs snap in and out) and could see that the drive pin was in two pieces. I was able to find and order a replacement from eReplacementparts.com and ordered the Stair/Upholstery tool at the same time. The pin attaches to the brush assembly with a single Philips head screw, removing the old one and installing the new was easy and only took a minute. Unit works fine now.

    Drive pin was broken

Replaced the brush block with the broken drive pin as a quick fix because the machine is used in rental properties and delays are unacceptable. Used a #0 phillips screwdriver to remove brush from broken drive pin but drive pin was broken too close to the brush block so the clear brush guards had to be removed to pull the brush off of the broken drive pin. Once the brush was removed it was simple to push the broken drive pin out the other way. The new drive pin was installed and the brush block was reassembled. Lesson learned: the brush block should be cleaned from time to time to keep dirt and hair build-up. The dirt build-up had caused the brushes to seize and break the drive pin.
