Product Description ?

This is an Authentic Manufacturer Sourced replacement part used on a Ridgid Hammer Drill/Driver. This Assembly consists of: Plastic Ring Holder, Four (4) Metal Brush Holders with Springs and Four (4) Carbon Brushes with a Lead Wires Attached.

To replace this assembly you would need a Screwdriver

• First remove Screws holding the cover together
• Carefully remove Two (2) Halves of the housing to gain access to Motor Housing
• Disconnect the Wires from the Brush Assembly
• Remove the old Brush Assembly and replace it with the New Brush Assembly
• Reconnect the wires
• Reassemble and test your tool

    Removed screws holding the 2 halves of the drill together, rigid cordless drill, removed the brush assembly, needed to heat the solder to remove the bad brushes then resolder the new assembly. Pretty easy, the drill works good as new

    Remove the screws from the back end cap housing and remove the end cap
    Remove the brush springs from the holder and place them on the holder
    Remove the brushes
    Remove the soldered brush leads, and remove the brush old assembly
    Solder the new brush leads in place of the old ones
    Place the brushes in the holder and replace the springs behind them
    Then install the end cap

    Remove the back cover of the drill. Pull the springs out of the brush asselmbly and set the end of the spring on the brush holder and pull out the brushes. Unsolder the wires to the old brush assembly, then remove it. Take the new brush assembly and do the same procedure with the springs and brushes. Then solder the new wires to the brush assembly and place it where it belongs. Insert the brushes into the holders and place the springs behind them. Then install the back of the drill. Done

    If you can soldier you can do this .the new brushs you just have to get a pair of needle nose pliers to release the tenchener springs then install the new assembly then soldier your 2 new wires to the trigger then put the tensioner springs back in place and reassemble

    Drill would not work all the time and sparks were coming from the motor

    Removed the casing
    Removed the brush assembly and switch
    Cut wire leads to switch and de-soldered remaining wire from switch
    Soldered the new wire leads to switch
    Re-installed the switch and brush assembly
    Replaced the casing and screws
    It now works great.

    Worn brushes resulted in dead Ridgid drill motor

    Remove the casing and brush assembly (cut the two wires)
    Match the lenghth of the new red and black wires to the old
    Unsoldered the old wires. Strip and tin the new wires
    Connect and soldered the new wires to the switch
    Remove the tension from the brushes and push the brushes away from the center
    Install the brush assembly over the commutator
    Retension the brushes
    Reassemble the casing

    1. Removed screws from shell casing.
    2. Remove 4 screws from gearbox assembly.
    3. Remove outer plastic.
    4. Remove motor assembly from the housing.
    5. Remove BRUSH ASSY. wires from trigger assembly.
    6. Lightly sand armature where brushes make contact.
    7. Reconnect new brush assembly wires.
    8. Install brushes on motor assembly.
    9. Install motor assembly into housing.
    10. Replace plastic and tighten all screws.

    Removed all screws,opened case,unsolderer wires, installed new brushes, soldered wires ,replaced housing & screws.
