This is an original Cuisinart replacement part manufactured for use with grind & brew, or automatic coffee makers. This brew basket can be called the filter basket. The brew basket holds the permanent gold filter, or disposable paper filters. It is important for the brew basket to be in place for the coffee maker to operate properly. The actuator at the bottom of this brew basket makes contact with the lid of the carafe, and is in the color black. The brew basket is sold individually.

Identified repair, ordered new basket, replaced old basket with new. Gasket kits were available on other sites, but were more expensive than replacing basket. No instructions needed :)
