This brake ring is an authentic component. It is sourced directly from the original equipment manufacturer for use with Makita sanders. The brake ring fits on top of the sander pad. Over time it may wear out or get damaged eventually requiring a replacement. It is made of high-quality plastic and is sold as an individual component. Check the diagrams of your model for the exact location and the correct installation of this part. You will need a screwdriver to remove the sander pad in order to replace the brake ring.

    Easy Repair
    My sander was spinning up to high rpm's when you lifted it off one piece to go to the next. That would cause a slight gouge when you would start sanding the next piece. This new brake ring keeps it from doing that. Takes only 3 or 4 minutes to replace.

    1. Removed sanding pad with screwdriver - 3 Phillips head screws.
    2. Pulled out old brake ring with my hand.
    3. Inserted new brake ring with my hand.
    4. Reinstalled sanding pad with screwdriver.
