Parts Used
Lift the front of the mower and put jacks below it, and block the rear wheels. Hold the blade with a heavy glove and remove the blade nut, washers and the blade. Don't lose the spindle washer above the blade. Place the spindle washer and the new blade on the the spindle, then the washers and tighten the blade nut. Torque it as noted to 80-90 FT/LBS.

Nylok TM nut on one blade shaft loosened enough so pulley and shaft wore each other out.

- Washer, 9/16 Belleville - 7024467SM
- Blade, 42-in. - 1731898BZYP
1. Removed mower Deck from tractor.
2. Removed lawnmower blades.
3. Removed pulley nut, pulley, and spacer and 5 bolts holding shaft bearing sleeve assembly
to deck.
4. Removed top snap-ring and pressed shaft and bearings out of sleeve.
5. Replaced shaft, pulley, bearings, spacers, Belleville washers, nuts and blades on one
assembly and reinstalled on the deck.
6. Replaced blade, blade spacer, Belleville washers and nut on the other shaft.
7. Torqued the blade nuts to specified torque.
2. Removed lawnmower blades.
3. Removed pulley nut, pulley, and spacer and 5 bolts holding shaft bearing sleeve assembly
to deck.
4. Removed top snap-ring and pressed shaft and bearings out of sleeve.
5. Replaced shaft, pulley, bearings, spacers, Belleville washers, nuts and blades on one
assembly and reinstalled on the deck.
6. Replaced blade, blade spacer, Belleville washers and nut on the other shaft.
7. Torqued the blade nuts to specified torque.

Washer spindle was shattered

I parked my riding mower on ramps to make access easier to the nut which secured the blade. After removing the blade i removed the broken washer spindle, applied grease to the threads, installed the new washer spindle and new blade. The most difficult part was getting the nut securing the blade loosen.

Riding Mower - Blades would not turn- washer spindle was jammed

Had to go through the steps to remove mower deck in order to get to the blade assemblies. I had not lubricated the spindles since I started using the mower so the spindle washer had disintegrated which caused the blades to jam. While I had the mower deck removed, I went ahead and replaced the blades, spindle blade washers and the retaining nuts. I also lubricated all the points which I had previously neglected and performed the mower deck height adjustments. I am happy with the results.
