This is a genuine Metabo replacement part that has been OEM sourced to ensure a high level of quality. The metal gears are some of the main components of the grinder. The pinion gear attaches to the motor drive shaft and the bevel gear connects to the spindle shaft. These gears are used to transfer the motor's horizontal rotation to the spindle's verticle rotation. Damage to one gear can likely cause damage to the other and it is recommended to replace both, this is why the gears are sold together.
