Product Information
Description:
This bail arm guide is sourced from the original manufacturer for spinning reels. It is a small plastic piece located near the bail arm. The bail arm guide ensures that the line is accurately placed onto the spool during retrieval. It helps to keep the line from getting tangled or getting caught between the spool and the body of the reel. The bail arm guide should be replaced if it is damaged or worn down, as a faulty bail arm guide will cause the line to tangle or break during use. You will need to remove the rotor cover to access the bail arm guide. Locate and remove the screws that secure the arm guide in place. Gently pull off the faulty bail arm guide and place the new bail arm guide in the same position. Secure the new part using the appropriate fasteners and ensure that it is aligned correctly. |

A small plastic part within the spring mechanism was broken
Disassembled the bail guide to expose the broken part
Removed the broken part
Unpackaged the new part
Tied monofilament to the spring and taped the mono to the table. Why you ask? To put the bail back together you have to compress the spring. They ALWAYS shoot across the room and can get lost.
Snipped the mono and reassembled everything and tightened the phillips screws
The reel was fixed for a small cost and will serve me for many years

Bail arm guide was missing.
Used #1 phillips screwdriver to remove the rotor cover. Used the same screwdriver to gently pry out the bail spring. Loosen the bail arm screw one to two turns, just enough to allow the new bail arm guide to slip into the hole in the bail arm. Once I was sure the new arm guide was in the hole, I slipped the spring onto the guide and compressed it enough to fit it back into its groove in rotor assembly. Without moving anything which might put pressure on the exposed parts, put the rotor cover back into place and screw it down tight. (Note: If there is no grease on the parts under the rotor cover or it is black or gritty, completely remove the bail arm screw to allow you to clean everything and apply good grease before putting the new arm guide in place.)

The part sent to me was dimensionally too big.
I ended up taking my reel to a local fishing tackle shop. They had to modify the part with a file in order to make the repair. There were no instructions included with the part. Luckily the guys at the tackle shop had done this repair before were able get my reel back together and working.

I needed a part for my fishing reel
The part was exactly what I needed for my fishing reel and it’s a small plastic part so I ordered a couple extra since I have a few more of the same reels.

Bail arm guide worked
It took a while to arrive, but so does everything else lately. They kept me updated on it's status as I waited. When it arrived, it appeared to be for the wrong reel, but there are several version of my reel that all look similar, so I probably ordered the wrong one. I was able to modify the arm slightly and now it works great...saved me buying another $75 reel. Thanks.
