It is designed to keep the fuel in the tank, unfortunately, over time it may wear out and begin to fail eventually requiring a replacement. It includes a retainer that remains in the tank to keep the fuel cap from being lost or falling on the ground. Keep in mind it is made of high-quality plastic and is sold individually.
