How to Replace the Blade Adapter Ring on a DeWALT Miter Saw

The adapter ring allows you to mount the saw blade to your miter saw. Standard twelve-inch saw blades have one-inch arbor holes in them. Most miter saw arbors are 5/8 of an inch, so the blade's arbor hole is too large to fit firmly onto the arbor shaft. The adapter ring fits into the blade hole and onto the arbor shaft, allowing you to use standard twelve-inch blades. The adapter blade can wear, causing the blade to wobble or vibrate.

Let's get started.

REMOVING THE BLADE ADAPTER RING   1. Unplug the saw.

a. Disconnect the saw from its power source.

  2. Remove the blade.

a. Retract the blade guard to expose the guard adjustment screw.

b. Remove the guard adjustment screw.

c. Pivot the guard assembly toward the rear of the saw to expose the clamp bolt.

d. Remove the clamp bolt (the bolt is reverse-threaded).

e. Remove the outer clamp.

f. Remove the blade.

  3. Remove the blade adapter ring.

a. Press the blade adapter ring out of the center of the blade.

INSTALLING THE NEW BLADE ADAPTER RING

  4. Install the blade adapter ring.

a. Press the new blade adapter ring into the center of the blade. (Tap the ring into place using the handle of a screwdriver, if necessary).

REASSEMBLING THE UNIT

  5. Reinstall the blade

a. Install the blade.

b. Install the outer clamp.

c. Secure the blade assembly with the clamp bolt. (The bolt is reverse-threaded).

  6. Reposition the guard.

a. Pivot the guard assembly toward the front of the saw.

b. Secure the guard assembly with the screw.
