Tines worn out? It's time to face the fix. Whether you are a casual cultivator or a legendary landscaper, eReplacementParts.com provides the parts, procedures and facts you need to fearlessly fix what fails you.
Your Super Bronco tiller contains a total of 16 individual tines (8 on the left tine holder; 8 on the right tine holder). While there is no difference between the inner and outer tines (on each side), the left and right tines are different (with different part numbers). So, if you are ordering an entire replacement set, be sure to order 8 tines for each side.
This article provides step-by-step instructions for removing and installing the tines on a Troy-Bilt Super Bronco tiller.
Let's get started. REMOVING THE TINES [top] 1. Remove the tine assembly.
These steps are the same whether you are replacing tines on the left or right side of your tiller.
Remove the shear bolt securing the tine assembly to the tine shaft.
Remove the tine assembly from the tine shaft.
2. Remove the tines from the tine holder.
Remove the (4) nuts and bolts securing the (outer) tines to the tine holder.
Remove the four (outer) tines from the tine holder.
Remove the (4) nuts and bolts securing the (inner) tines to the tine holder.
Remove the four (inner) tines from the tine holder.
INSTALLING THE NEW TINES [top] 3. Install the inner tines.
Note that the hole (for the shear bolt) is offset to one side of the tine holder. The side closest to the mounting hole is the inside portion of the tine holder. The tines should be installed with the outer bends facing the transmission (the inside of the tiller).
Install the four new (inner) inner tines; aligning the mounting holes with the holes on the tine holder.
Loosely install the mounting hardware (bolts and nuts).
Tighten the (4) bolts to secure the tines to the tine holder.
4. Install the outer tines.
Align TWO of the four new (outer) tines with the mounting holes on (opposite sides of) the tine holder.
Align the remaining TWO new (outer) tines with the mounting holes on the tine holder. (These tines should sit flush on top of the previous two tines.)
Loosely install the mounting hardware (bolts and nuts).
Tighten the (4) bolts to secure the tines to the tine holder.
REASSEMBLING THE UNIT [top] 5. Reinstall the tine assembly.
Install the tine holder (and new tines) onto the tine shaft; aligning the hole on the shaft with the offset hole on the tine holder.
Thread the shear bolt through the tine shaft and the tine holder.
Tighten the nut (onto the shear bolt) to secure the tine assembly to the unit.
6. Repeat as necessary.
Repeat ALL of the above steps to replace the tines on the opposite side of the tiller (if necessary).
