Remove motor, separate spindle, armature, etc. The only difficult part was extracting the small roller bearing from the housing. I went messing with it and it was probably fine, but once I started I was committed. If it's fine, leave it be. Spindle, armature and brushes make the old saw perform like new for 1/3rd the cost. Don't forget to grease the gears and pack gearcase with grease. If I hadn't ignored the saw, and serviced it every year or so, it probably wouldn't have worn out. Still, 15 years of service in general carpentry is a pretty good run.

Turned the table saw upside down. Removed the motor from the gear housing. Removed the brushes from the motor. Pulled the armature from out of the motor housing. Removed the baffle plate. Removed the screws hold the field. Removed the springs from around the brush holders, noting which color, went to each brush holder. Made a wiring diagram of the rest of the wires and disconnected them. Used a rubber mallet to tap on the outside of the motor housing to release the field. Reassembled in reverse order. And installed the new brushes.
