Product Description ?

This is an authentic OEM replacement part used on Gas Trimmers, it is sold individually. This is just the Foam Filter, Cover and the Base Assembly are sold separately. The purpose of this filter is to keep dirt and other small particles from entering the engine and causing internal engine damage. Once this type of filter gets clogged or dirty it should be changed (Not Cleaned).

    Screwdriver, Plug wrench; 16\\

    Empty the fuel tank
    Remove the air filter cover; wipe air intake out with clean gas and paper towel
    Put in new filter; close cover
    Remove old spark plug, check gap to manual recommendations; set gap; insert spark plug and tighten.
    Remove four (4) screws from the primer pump housing; remove primer pump bulb (it was cracked); replace new primer bulb into housing; set the screws in the normal cross pattern for a good seat and even torque - check for leaks (none - yeah?)
    Fish out the fuel filter from the tank with a coat hanger wire bent for this task
    Replace the filter on the fuel line end - push back into the tank

    All good! Runs great again.

    recoil assembly broke, decided to change plug and filter while doing primary repair.

    Repairs on Shindaiwa T242 brush whacker:

    1. Removed broken recoil assembly - it is sometime necessary to loosen adjacent parts to remove the part you're after.
    2. Attached new recoil assembly, tightened all loosened fasteners.
    3. Remove and replace plug using plug wrench - make sure plug wire is properly seated.
    4. Remove and replace air filter using finger screw.

    Replaced the carburetor, the fuel filter, the fuel lines, the plug and the air filter. Basically a rebuild of the fuel system. Trimmer now works like new.

    Removed the air filter cover
    Removed the old air filter
    Removed the screws holding the air filter base and removed the old one , then screwed on the new one
    Remove the old spark plug and gap the new one at 0.025
    Install the new air filter
    Install the air filter cover

    3.Remove the two carburetor mounting bolts. (Allen head)
