    Trimmer not releasing new string, and deflector shield not cutting the line well.

    1. Remove the old cap
    2. Take out the spool.
    3. Remove 4 screws (Phillips) securing the grass deflector assembly.
    4. Looked at a great YouTube video showing how to remove the plastic slider and spring.
    5. Mine did not come as easily as in the video had to use a flat screwdriver to pop it back and out.
    6. Put in the new plastic sider and compression spring.
    7. Put the new deflector assembly on.
    8. Put the 4 screws back in.
    9. Replaced the spool.
    10. Put the new cap on.
    11. Works like a champ again; line feeding out like it used to.

    Place spring into imprinted hole. Begin to slide the plastic slider onto shaft until extended plastic slips into collar hole. Depress end of spring to fit in hole in inside of collar. Install string bobin and cap. Test if string works and feeds normally.

    I bought the floor model and the compression spring and plastic slider were missing. Got the parts fast, took less than 5 minutes to fix and trimmer is working perfect!

    Put small screwdriver into hole to hold shaft,used pliers to remove old thread base,put new spoolbase on with hands,could not find anything to tell me how to remove old thread base,but luckily i have a jack of all trde daughter ,,Ryobi 18 volt weed trimmer

    Removed the spool cap.
    Removed the spool.
    Pushed the plastic slider in as far as I could with my fingers then used a flat head screwdriver to pry up from underneath to release it.
    Inserted new spring into the end of the new plastic slider.
    Placed everything back in reverse order.
    Done in less than 5 minutes

    1. Cleaned string trimmer.
    2. Remove plastic cap and string spool.
    3. Used flat head screwdriver to gently push and lift the plastic slider out of place.
    4. Removed old spring and old plastic slider.
    5. Placed new spring into end of new plastic slider.
    6. Gently pushed parts into place.
    7.Restrung line onto spool.
    8.Thread string through spool hole.
    9.Put spool into place.
    10. Placed plastic cap back in place.

    Heavy duty weed cutting in large yard. Hit a large hidden rock. The heavy duty blades came out and so did the slider and spring.
