The screws had come loose in the bearing cap and had to be replaced
Remove the sanding disc, then remove the conversion pad (hook & loop surface) which is glued to the sanding pad. Remove the 4 screws that hold the pad to the bearing cap and remove the pad and brake disc. Remove the phillips screw and washer from the motor shaft and remove the bearing cap.
Clean the surface of the sander body where the brake disc rests and clean the accumulation of dust by using air pressure. Clean the surface of the sanding pad before reinstalling the new conversion pad (which is replaced after the sanding pad is attached to the sander). Remember to use safety glasses and to remember how the parts are attached while disassembling.
