My valve stem wouldn't stay where it needed to in order to keep the water from draining out of the tank of the carpet shampooer

1. Removed the old stem (wasn't hard because the valve seal was shrunk from age so it came right out.
2. Took valve seal off of the old stem with pliers.
3. Installed the new valve seal, added the spring and shoved it into the hole it belonged in.
4. Problem solved. Works beautifully.
