Although this pressure washer is several years old, it started up on the first pull this winter. There was the expected pressure shooting out of the wand but when I let go of the trigger, it seems some kind of gasket blew out between the manifold and what the manifold bolts to. A couple of questions:
1. What's the most likely issue?
2. If the issue is not reliably obvious, does it make more sense to replace the entire pump or buy a new pressure washer?

Hi dmc23030 Evidently the unloader valve was stuck closed and it did not allow the pump to circulate the inlet water freely. Pressure built up and and a seal blew. This is a common problem on the pumps as hard water, corrosion, and chemicals used through the pumps hasten the pumps' demise. A new pump might be a good investment at this point.
If you have the pump pulled off the motor and have it disassembled, you may certainly see why a new pump is a good idea. Older pumps CAN be rebuilt, but you need to know how they work in order to repair them properly.

Thank you ShotOut! Your advice is spot on consistent with other sources I'm learning. Not knowing much about pumps in general and with several other minor issues with this pressure washer, I'm considering buying a new pressure washer even though it appears replacing the whole pump is relatively easy. The recommended pumps I've seen run $150-$200 and the other minor issue corrections are around $100. I weigh this against the $269 price of a PowerStroke 3000 PSI pressure washer from Costco and it seems the new pressure washer not only fixes all of the problems but gives me more PSI. Do you have any experience or knowledge of the reliability of the PowerStroke pressure washers?

Hello dmc23030 You are quite welcome. I haven't any experience with a Powerstroke, but to me; a pressure washer is a pressure washer with a small internal combustion engine (I know....some are electric) and the pump. There are parts and repair kits for many of the different pumps and I am still learning how to work on them. Many are discarded, because of pump failure, not engine failure. If you can go online to a vendor or retailer that sells the Powerstroke, there should be some buyer reviews on the machine you can check out. If your present machine has a good engine, maybe just getting a replacement pump is the way to go but it seems it may be more cost effective to just get another machine

larry I only searched on ebay. They had a couple similar but not the exact one. Why don't you pick one up on here? If not, just get a replacement pump off of ebay. Many models will fit the bolt pattern on the Troy Bilt and cost almost the same as this manifold.

I have a Troybuilt Model 020208 2,600 psi pressure washer. When the engine is started the normal water pressure is discharging from the wand. However, after depressing the trigger on the grip handle the pump never engages. Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Question: 2600 Pump Manifold

samtheman

Is it difficult to rebuild from the old guts(removed) into a new manifold or better to buy a Manifold assembled?
WJA

WJA

Hello samtheman,

It's more time consuming than difficult to rebuild the manifold. I you have some time on your hands, that may be the way to go. I myself would go the easy route and buy the manifold complete.

Hello ssmerritt51,

I think you are referring to the unloader, which is part number 190594GS. I hope this is what you need.

190594GS Unloader Value and 190592GS Inlet Check Valve. I got the Unloader removed (tough pull) but there is another metal piece with a floating ball that I can't get out. Also can't get the Inlet Check removed.

Question: Output Thread Size

Bill

The threads on the pump casting have become damaged. What is the size and pitch of the thread, so that I can get the appropriate thread chaser?
Bill
Reply: Output Thread Size

Bill

Never mind. A 22MM-1.5 die worked fine. The only problem is that even with clean threads, the coupling doesn't engage more than the last few threads, and once they are flattened, there's not much holding the hose.
I may try to add a permanent fitting to the cheap casting.

Hi Kenny,

There is not a seal kit available that includes all of the seals for the pump. On page B of the parts diagrams you will see that there are sub-assemblies for various portions of the pump, each of the sub assemblies include the seals for those parts.

I hope this helps with your repair!

What causes the pressure pump to leak oil?
Gale Lemons
Question: Gun

Gale Lemons

Gun leaks where extension is mounted to gun. O Rings bad.
You have no O Rings listed. Is it possible to take out the brass part on the Gun that is screwed to the Extension? The hole is six sided where water comes out and an 6MM allen wrench just fits it. There is an O Ring on the brass outlet with a fiber washer just behind it and mine is broken. This is why I think that the brass fitting with the O Ring and fiber washer needs to come out. No other way to get the fiber washer on.
Thanks and where do I get the parts.
