Product Description ?

Genuine Delta Polyurethane Upper Wheel Tire for 16" Bandsaw. When putting the tire on a band saw Wheel, it may seem too small but it is not. Band saw Tires will typically come approximately 2 or more inches smaller than the Tire you're replacing. The old Tire stretches over time thus becoming less effective and eventually will break. Also, as Tire ages the rubber hardens and allows the Blade to slip. You would need to put the New Tire in Hot/Warm Water to heat the tire enough to make it pliable enough to stretch. Its preferred to use two people in the stretching process.

    Screwdriver, bench grinder w/wire wheel

I bought a used Delta 16" band saw model #28-560 that was in storage for a number of years. I tried making a few adjustments to get the blade to track, but was unsuccessful. Realized after removing the cover that the band saw tires were past their prime. I ordered two new tires from e-replacement parts which arrived in a very short period of time. To make the repair, loosen the three knobs to remove the cover. Turn the tension knob counter clockwise to remove the blade. Next use a flat blade screwdriver to remove the c-clips to remove the wheels. Remove the tires with the screwdriver by prying between the tire and wheel being careful not to mar the metal surface of the wheel. The old tires left some adhesive residue on the wheels which can be removed with a wire wheel. Once cleaned up, install new tires and reverse the procedure to reassemble the band saw wheels, blade and cover. adjust the blade tension to complete repair.

Using the clamps to hold the tire in place allowed me to rotate the tire on the wheel. Popped right on. Soaking in hot water allowed the belt to stretch enough for an easy fix.
