Product Information
Description:
This is a Trigger type switch that has internal terminals and a locking mechanism. This genuine Makita replacement part is sold individually. Switches are commonly replaced parts in power tools. A switch handles on/off and variable speed functions. They also have a role in electric breaking; they can momentarily reverse electrical polarity. Because switches use mechanical internals, they will degrade and wear out over time, eventually requiring replacement. Some common signs of a broken or failing switch are: |

Cord deteriorated from age, switch broke trying to replace cord.
Removed old switch and cord, connected cord and load wires to switch, re-assembled.
It took a few minutes to find that there was a diagram on the switch showing which were the line and load connection points, and that the load connections had stab fittings, while the line connections had screws. Once I found that, it was easy.

Removed handle cover on the saw, and removed the cord clamp. Made a wiring diagram of the wires. Removed the wires from the switch. Then I connected the wires to the switch, like the wiring diagram. Installed the cord clamp, then installed the handle cover of the saw.

trigger switch fell apart when repairing broken power cord. Lost a small part and could not reassemble old switch.
Removed half of handle and replace switch with new one that was simpler and did not need to be taken apart to put the new wires in.

On/Off switch broken
Replaced the switch.
BUT, there were NO instructions on which of the 4 wires (line/load) to attach to the 4 holes in the new switch. The new switch was a newer configuration so the marking were different. A lot of thought and trial and error was needed to complete the repair.
ALSO, It took 5 days to receive the very small envelope via USPS first class. For the amount paid for shipping it could have been sent priority mail and arrived on 1 - 2 days. Please think about that option for the future.
Oh and by the way, the tool type I was repairing is not listed in the "Tool Type" list above. The actual tool type was "Reciprocating Saw".

Fast delivery, correct part, works fine so far.
The original switch is discontinued but this later version works fine. The exploded diagram helped, and the question-answer part of the website made the wiring clear. All in all a good experience.

Simple repair, great fit.
The switch arrived promptly, packaged well, and in great condition. Took all of 5 minutes to install and reassemble the already partially disassembled machine. I'm very pleased.

part.
The switch for my Makita Sawzall was not the same as the original but it fit properly and worked fine. Had to search quite a bit on google to find out how to install the wiring as there were no instructions included and the locations for the wires were not marked very clearly. I would buy again as this was the only replacement part I could find.
