    Pulled the handle,disconnect the stop cable, removed the rear wheels and placed on my work bench. removed the grass flap on the back to access the bolt and nut to remove the RH and LH wheel brackets. Both little bent tips were rusted and broken on both brackets. Took about 20 minutes to replace, the brackets and all other parts - work just fine

    all four tabs for the brackets were broken off - too weak.

    Pliers, Socket set, Nutdriver, sawhorses to work on, clamp, ladder (handle support)

    I did both at the same time - both off, then one on at a time.
    Take photos of how it looks before you take it apart, to get install sequence and alignment correct.
    Remove wheel. Keep all washers, etc. attached and in order.
    Disconnect pull rope support from handle.
    Remove nut (inside) from bolt. Catch the handle so it doesn't fall on you.
    Remove wheel bracket.
    Support the handle on the ladder to hold it in place. Install the new wheel bracket.
    Align the bracket tabs and clamp everything together to hold in place while tightening bolt
    install and tighten bolt.
    Reinstall wheel.

    Metal tabs wore off that keep the handle from moving to far up and down

    Wheel support bracket tabs broken, Rear skirt damaged

    1) Removed wheel for access to support bolt
    2) Removed support bracket bolt and part
    3) New part set properly with tabs and secured
    4) Screws removed with bracket, skirt placed and brackets and screws reinstalled

    1. Removed left wheel assembly
    2. Removed pin that held wheel bracket support to handle
    3. Placed new support in place; clamped into position while putting handle in place.
    4. Put wheel assembly back into place.
    5. Repeated process on right side.
    Important knowledge: it took a while to discover that this part for a Murray MX500 21-inch walk behind mower is the same as Poulan PO500 mower. Not even the Murray manufacturer could initially find the part. I discovered it look at similar parts and making an educated guess.

    Tab broke where handle connects to lawn mower body on both left and right sides. Also handle wing knob and bolt missing.

    Excessive handle travel up/down....

    1. Put mower on high table for work convenience
    2. Remove the back wheels and the parts behind the wheel
    3. Remove the cotter pin from the bracket on the bottom handle
    4. Remove the bottom handle from the bracket
    5. Assemble in reverse order

    The original wheel support bracket tabs rusted/broke off.

    1. Removed Rear Wheels.
    2. Removed Left and Right Wheel support bolts.
    3. Removed cotter pin on handle bar support post.
    4. Kept Wheel support bolts, bushing, washer, and nut in order after removing.
    5. Removed the Wheel Bracket Supports, discarded.
    6. Replace with NEW Wheel Bracket Supports.
    7. Re-inserted bolts, bushings, washer, and nut through new wheel support bracket and deck.
    8. Tightened down bolts.
    9. Re-attach handle bar and cotter pins
    10. Re-attach wheels

    The ears that hold the wheel bracket supports in place had broken off allowing the handle to fall all the way to the ground. Removed the wheel then the bolt that held the wheel bracket supports in place. Put the new wheel bracket in place and bolted. Then reinstalled the wheel. Piece of cake. Took about 20 minutes.
