The pull handle separated from the rope
Separating the shaft from the starter housing was no problem on my TB525CS it was getting the clutch to loosen up. As seen on a You tube I stuck a rope in the hole where the spark plug goes to stop the clutch from rotating. This took a few tries but it spun free. Then I had to disconnect the linkage to the killer switch. I remembered the last time when I was done replacing the clutch what a bear it was to put the recoil spring back together so this time when the rope broke I decided to buy the starter housing with the rope and recoil spring all assembled. The second part that gave me trouble putting everything back together was the trigger. I had to disassemble the linkage and in the process the trigger fell out of the handle. It took me awhile to figure out which way the trigger went back together but I reassembled everything and my TB525CS is like new again.

Edger
Parts Used:
Repair Difficulty:
Easy
Time Spent Repairing:
15-30 minutes
Tools Used:
Screwdriver, spanner wrench to remove pulley
Starter cogs had worn out
Looked it up on ereplacementparts' YouTube channel and saw how to do it...Ordered the total housing before I realized I could have repaired it with two parts...but I now have backups!
Parts received quickly and were installed easily.
Basically: took off trigger assembly; disconnected two wires and the accelerator cable. Remove the fly wheel pulley by first using a 15mm torx driver and then the pulley. Removed screws holding housing to motor. Removed old housing, installed new housing and screws...replaced pulley, tightened it down...replaced the shaft cover and tightened the torx screws. Replaced cable and wires and screwed trigger assembly back together.
I now have a like new edger instead of $200 for a new trimmer that would have given me two trimming attachments...I have about $55 invested and a trimmer that works great.
