The plastic starter wheel has tabs that had broken, to the wings on the starter would not engage.

Remove the four retaining screws from starter assy. and lift off.
Carefully drop on the "soft start" starter and replace the screws.
The internal torsion spring absorbs the shock of each compression stroke and allows a
long smooth pull which fires the engine in two pulls. Nice saw now!

Bought an after market starter assembly, and after a short time of using the saw. The housing at the top warped and started eating up the plastic cogs.
