It is a genuine OEM component which is designed for Troy-Bilt walk-behind lawn mowers. This is the gear that engages the drive wheel. Unfortunately, over time it may wear out or get damaged eventually requiring a replacement to ensure your equipment operates properly. One durable metal spur gear is included. To ensure the correct repair procedure, refer to the appropriate diagrams of your model. You will need a wrench set to remove and reattach the drive wheel when replacing this spur gear. |

The drive gear teeth were worn causing erratic speed and grinding.
Removed the wheel and dust cover. Pulled off the gear and replaced with the new gear. Put the wheel back on.
