The purpose of o-rings is to provide a tight seal between connected components, unfortunately, over time the material will wear out and it may begin to fail eventually requiring a replacement. Keep in mind this high-quality kit is sold individually, note it includes three durable rubber rings in a package. Dismantled faucet (old Moen Chateau type) as in installation leaflet, replaced O-rings, reassembled faucet. Easy!

Spout difficult to swing left/right.

Removed the spout, lubed with silicone and replaced with new lubed o rings. Adjusted spout hold down. O rings were needed in case of damage upon removal. They were not!
Silicone grease was needed because it is more compatible with o rings material.

Screwdriver, Pliers, Channel Lock

Faucet was leaking at the base.

Turn off the water supply.
Remove the handle off the faucet.
Unscrew the lever that pulls the filter.
Remove the faucet spout.
Remove the next ring on the faucet and the plastic ring below it.
Remove the lock ring.
Place the plastic tool that came with the cartridge over the top.
Rotate 90 degrees.
Pull out the cartridge.
Replace with new cartridge. Replace the o-rings while you are in there.
Reassemble, turn water back on and enjoy!
