Inlet elbow broke on Karcher pressure washer

    Tool Type

    Pressure Washer

    Difficulty

    Easy

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Socket set, Wrench Set, Allan key

    1. Removed screws attaching handle to the body.
    2. Removed screws that hold shell together from underside of body. I think there were 6 of them.
    3. Carefully split the case open by removing top portion. Lift out the entire motor assembly.
    4. Remove 4 allen key bolts holding the metal "cage" covering the inlet valve assembly. Note how the inlet valve assembly latches onto the switch so you can reinstall it properly later.
    5. Pull cage off. Inlet valve assembly must be removed from the cage. I inserted a small screwdriver through various slots and holes in the cage and carefully pried out the valve assembly. Mine came out quite easily.
    6. Slide out the inlet elbow and slide in the new one. Reassemble everything.

    broken inlet elbow

    Tool Type

    Pressure Washer

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    30-60 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Pliers, Socket set, metric hex socket drivers

Removed wheel assembly. Removed case. Remove switch assembly. Removed front assembly of pump. Removed elbow from assembly. Reinstalled front assembly to pump. This requires installing the socket hex bolts. They need to be turned by hand. As they tighten up, go to next bolt and turn it. This draws the assembly down and allows the pistons to reseat. When all bolts are turning easily, finish tightening them with wrenches. Reinstall switch assembly. Reassemble case and wheel assembly.
