Question: Skil 7313 Type 4 Belt Sander

The sanding belt on my belt sander will no longer remain centered. I have had to adjust the centering adjustment screw over time until now it has reached its limit. I replaced the tire which drives the sanding belt though it didn't look particularly worn which improved the situation somewhat but the sanding belt still rapidly moves half way off the sander and I can't adjust it any further. The front pulley bearings are snug, the pulley doesn't appear to be worn and the pulley rotates freely.

I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if anyone knows how to fix the problem.

The roller assembly #844 needs help.I used duct tape about 1'' wide , wrap it around the center of the roller 2 or 3 times what ever the frame will allow. try that. The roller loses its crown and will no longer center the belt. hope this helps

You may even want to replace the rubber ring that fits around the back roller. It is part number 2610372780.

Adding a "crown" to the front roller using duct tape solved my problem. One more use for duct tape!! For some reason it never occurred to me that not having a crown in the centre of the front roller would cause my problem. I have already replaced the "tire or rubber ring" on the rear roller but the front roller is no longer available.

Hi,If I remember that model right it has two internal brush & tube assembly that require the housings to be split to gain access to them. Hope that helps.
