Questions & Answers for Set Screw

When we power on the saw it sounds rough and loud. The other one we have is quiet what would you suggest we start with first? Set Screw?
Margaret for model number JTAS-10-1 asked on 2022-06-21
Hi Margaret, Thank you for your question. There are a couple of things that you can do to reduce the noise on your table saw if your motor is loud and rough. You can insulate the base by using rubber pads or isolation mounts. If your blade is dull, either sharpen or replace it. When blades are worn, they can be noisy. Also, make sure that your blade is at the correct height for the piece of wood you are using and use a blade stabilizer. If you have any questions, please let us know. We are open 7 days a week and anyone will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing from you!

I disconnected the power and then released the belt tension. Took the hand wheel off, there are two set screws. In the spindle you have two setscrews, loosen both of them so that the spindle will move freely. The lock in front part of the head it has three screws to take out and the cover will come off but watch out for the spring from the lock spindle. Next, take the wooden mallet and hit the end of the spindle to knock it out watch out for the KEY in the spindle it's not very big you could lose it. To put it back together do everything in reverse.

I used a replacement hand wheel from an 18" band saw that was the correct diameter. The replacement hand wheel was for a smaller shaft so I drilled it out to 1/2 inch. I installed it with the included set screw. It works perfectly and is a much better quality hand wheel than the original.
