Specifications
  • Power take off (PTO) side.
Description:
It is a genuine item that is supplied by the original equipment manufacturer for Briggs and Stratton engines commonly installed on a variety of lawn and garden equipment. This is a special component that provides a tight seal for the PTO side of the crankcase. Over time it may wear out and begin to crack eventually requiring a replacement. Check the appropriate diagrams for your specific model to ensure the correct installation of the new seal-oil. To perform this repair you will need a variety of tools such as a screwdriver, a wrench set, pliers and a tool to pick out the old seal. Make sure to drain the oil before starting this repair. Keep in mind, one durable rubber part is included.

Leaking Crankcase gasket
I disconnected the battery, starter, removed crank drive pulley, remover motor bolts that hold it to the frame. One the motor was free, I drained the oil, removed the motor from the frame, and turned it upside down on wood framed roll around. Then removed the crankcase, cleaned and removed the old gasket and used a seal remover tool to remove the crank seal. I installed a new seal turned the case bottom side down installed the governor and snapped it into place. I cleaned the block to remove the rest of the gasket. I then installed the new crank gasket, turned the crank case over and slid it over the oiled crank down to the cam gear and lined up the governor gear and cam gear and the case slipped into place. I installed the 7 bolts and tightened them down in sequence and torque to spec, turned the motor back over installed on the frame of my garden tractor. Reinstalled the 4 bolts that holds the motor in, replaced the main pulley, connected the starter, connected the choke, throttle cables, filled the crankcase with oil, connected the battery and started the motor and let kit run for a while and checked for leaks and there were none. Mower is ready to go back to work.

The engine was leaking oil. The fuel filter needed replaced anyway, but broke when removing.
Take crank covers off, clean parts, use engine assembly lube when putting movable parts back together, torque bolts down to specifications. The fuel filter is between two hose clamps. Slide the clamps back, take out the old fuel filter and replace. If the hose clamps are weak, replace.

    have not attempted the installation
the only items I installed at this time are the head valve seal cn34994 and the o ring kit for cn565s/d cn81008. the oil seals and mulching blades look fine. The head valve seal worked fine, the o ring kit was good for the most part I liked the diagram layout for the kit, I did however have a problem with two o rings 4 and 5 they do not fit the nail gun at any location, as my problem with the nail gun was the head valve seal and not the o rings that do not fit the locations on the diagram I am mostly satisfied with these items you may want to look into this kit as other customers may require the o rings
