This is an authentic OEM supplied replacement item designed for Makita miter saws. This screw allows user to adjust the miter angle. To do so loosen the grip by turning counterclockwise. Turn the turn base while pressing down the lock lever. When you have moved the grip to the position where the pointer points to the desired angle on the miter scale, securely tighten the grip clockwise. It is made out of metal and it is sold individually.
This table lock screw is 12-5/8" long with threading at both ends.

removed the side of the handle, inserted the button (no other parts were damaged or missing) and replaced the side of the handle.
Loosened the nut holding the handle on the screw, unscrewed and replaced the screw, replaced the nut and plastic handle
The repair went very well and the saw is fully operational.
