Remove 3 nuts holding muffler on, slide old muffler off, slide new muffler on.Tighten nuts evenly. [I double nutted mine, as the vibration tends to work the nuts loose]. Also, check muffler gasket for serviceability, replace if necessary.

Exhaust bolts/nuts loosened. Sprocket in bar loosened up.

Muffler came loose and blower the muffler gasket out.

Went to remove old screw on muffler and it snapped off. So I ordered replacement parts. I installed the new muffler gasket and new muffler screw and reinstalled the muffler. And torqued all three screws to specks.

Bolts broke when removing muffler from Homelite 46cc chainsaw.

The heads on the 3 bolts were too large to fit into the bracket on the Homelite 46cc chainsaw - ground down the sides and they fit fine.

Muffler broke away

Removed shrouds etc to expose muffler
Removed muffler and broken bolts and gasket
Tapped one damaged hole
Reassembled with new parts

Exhaust muffler screws broke

1. Dissembled outer guards and covers
2. Removed exhaust muffler
3. Removed broken screws
4. Installed new screws (after grinding down the square heads to fit in slot in block, they were too wide )
5. Re-assembled muffler assembly
6. Cleaned all sawdust and gunk built up on unit, and a general p.m
7. Reassembled guards and covers
