The key broke off in the rotor. A little over a year old. Now I have to buy a new part. The key way should have been made out of steel. This is a cheap way of making this part. There was no locktite here from Ryobi. Not happy.
Wont Idle and now wont start Question by Roland 09/19/2009
When I start it it runs fine until I put the choke on. This happens about three times until it starts to run. Though it won't idle?? It's been slowing down on me and I turn it with the motor above my head, like when I'm edging, and it runs great. Now it will start but the spool spins slow a few times and then it shuts off. Now i wont start at all. Help?
Review by "Don't Buy a Ryobi Trimmer" Dave 07/12/2009
"Cork??!!" gas cap gasket is a joke, until it disintegrates and small pieces of cork end up in your fuel tank and fuel drips all over the place. After first start of the day, re-starting when hot is "not" happening. It seems as though there is some electrical shutoff that occurs until either the engine cools or you "yank" your arm off, whichever happens first. And, this is my second Ryobi gas trimmer. My first one broke a piston rod in my second season of operation. I'm a glutton for punishment. However, fool me once... shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. There won't be a third time. Ryobi lost a customer for good. And, I'll tell two friends, and they'll tell two friends, and so on, and so on. Ryobi..... good luck with that.
