Hello 1124812,

We have prepared two articles and videos to help you with your project. The first one will show how to get to your clutch, and you will notice that the clutch show on the first video does not look like the one on your trimmer. The second video shows how to remove the clutch off of a chainsaw with a clutch like yours.

does anybody know if there is a part number or availability of the rubber check valve inside/ under the the primer bulb at the top of the carb?

The little marroon or orange check valves made by Walbro will fit these carbs. They have them on Ebay. Search under Walbro Check Valve. They fit and they work.

Remove the tube that holds the flex-drive shaft from the front of the motor cover.Remove the rear engine cover. Remove the throttle cable from the carburetor. Mark and unplug any wires for the on/off switch that go to the ignition coil (underneath front cover) if possible. Now if you have pulled the driveshaft tube out of the way, the clutch drum is up next. Inside it, screwed into the very end of the engine's crankshaft is a Torx #25 screw. Before you loosen it, you will have to lock up the engine. To do so, remove the spark plug. Pull on the starter until the piston is down, then insert a length of clean, soft rope into the engine. The engine will come up and compress the rope, thus locking it in place to allow clutch drum and clutch removal. Loosen the T-25 (Star bit or Torx head) screw inside the drum.. You may be able to remove it with a long thin-blade screwdriver also.It probably won't come completely out...it is made this way. Next, remove the clutch. It is screwed onto a small threaded section of the crankshaft Removal is counterclockwise.. It will be pretty tight. To help, apply peneterating oil. Whack the ears of the clutch near the center with a hammer and a dull flat-blade chisel or a small piece of wood unless there are bolts. then use a wrench. It will turn counterclockwise for removal and there will probably be a removal direction arrow on it's face. After getting that off, remove the Torx screws holding the cover to the engine. The starter unit should be mounted inside as it mates with the top of the flywheel to start the motor. Remember to preload tension (5-7 turns) on the starter unit. Make sure the handle is installed. Jam the unit with a screwdriver or vise grips so you can insert and tie off the new rope. Then remove jam device and let recoil pull your new rope into place while holding the handle. Reassemble and you are done. Disassembly requires Torx head drivers and a good flat-blade screwdriver. Post back if needed

Question: Ry 30524 Gas Problem

Jim

My weed wacker would not run for more than 30 sec at a time. I took it apart (carefully) cleaned it but found no indication of clogging. When I try to start it now it spits gas out the exhaust but will not start. Help.

The carburetor probably needs to be adjusted (H and L mixture screws) or have some new parts installed. The RUIING carbs on these don't have rebuild kits but they have parts that mimic Walbro diaphragm carbs and are probably compatible.

That sounds like dirt or debris in the carburetor. When an engine is first started and is idling it is pulling fuel through what is called the idle circuit in the carburetor. The idle circuit is just a passage in the carb that works when less air is being drawn into the carb. When you throttle the engine up the fuel now flows through the main jet in the carb. My guess it that your main jet is clogged. That is why it will run at idle but die when throttle is applied. A good carburetor cleaning should solve the problem.

I hope this helps,

The L mixture screw in the carb needs adjusting. Get an automotive type wire connector (say 22 gauge) and tap the end of it over the head of the L mixture screw (screw closest to the engine). With it running, turn it counterclockwise about 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn to improve acceleration.

I went to empty out the gas in my machine(stated above) and discovered that the hose connected to the fuel filter, that is inside the gas tank enclosure, was deteriorated and in many pieces.

My questions are:
Does the Gas Tank Enclosure you sell include the hoses and fuel filter?
What might have caused the hoses to deteriorate like that?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Go to the garden center at Home Depot. They have a Ryobi fuel kit for about 7 clams. It has the fuel lines and filter you need to fix your machine...and I think it includes the primer bulb too!

Hi Dewey,

Unfortunately there are no separate parts available for the carburetor. The carburetor is only available as a complete assembly. It is part #308054007 and is available from http://www.ereplacementparts.com.

If you have some skills at cross referencing parts you can. This is a RUIING carburetor that is a Chinese knockoff of a Walbro. The standard Walbro gasket and diaphragm kit will probably be compatible. They don't sell individual parts for these carburetors.

My question is the same as Dotty's -
How can you get a primer bulb for RY 30524 (CS30) ?
Mark

Mark

Hi Pat,

The primer bulb for your trimmer is built into the carburetor. Ryobi doesn't manufacture the carb themselves but purchases it from a 3rd party. Because of this Ryobi does not offer any parts for the carburetor. To replace the primer bulb you will need to replace the carburetor. The carburetor is part #308054007 and is available from http://ereplacementparts.com.

I hope this helps with your repair!

As of October 2010, Home Depot is now stocking (and hopefully soon EREPLACEMENTPARTS.COM as well) a Ryobi Fuel System Tune-up kit which contains both gas lines, a tool to install them, and the primer bulb.

Part Number is - Ac04101 852-510
UPC Code is - 0-46396-55192-4

Distributed by - Techtronic Industries North America, Inc.
1428 Pearman Dairy Rd.
Anderson, SC 29625

After draining gas tank, it took me less than 5 minutes to install all the components of the kit on my CS30 RY30524. tools required were phillips head screwdriver, torx screwdriver, small brush, and small wrench or socket driver, pliers.

Gas lines - drain gas tank, remove gas tank cap, carefully pull with fingers, or cut with knife or use pliers
the gas lines off the carb. Do the replacement one line at a time to avoid confusion.
Pull return line out of gas tank carefully from the outside. The inline also has a fuel filter on it. Push the line into the tank and tilt trimmer so line and filter drop out of gas tank filler spout. Follow instruction sheet in Kit to install new lines.

Primer bulb replacement - turn choke dial to full choke position,
use pliers, socket driver or small wrench and remove hex nut from Choke dial cover, remove wavy washer and flat washer and dial cover

use brush to clean debris from air filter screen.
use torx (T15?) screwdriver to remove torx screw just behind the filter screen assembly. Not sure what the whole assembly is called, but it contains the choke run dial and filter screen. removing the screw will allow you to gently rotate the assembly counter clockwise slightly to expose the second plate screw for the primer bulb.
use the phillips screwdriver to remove the two retaining screws
for the primer bulb retention plate. remove plate and replace primer bulb with new one., replace the two phillips screws, rotate the assembly clockwise so that screw hole lines up again,
replace torx screw for the assembly.

install choke dial back on shaft with arrow pointed at full choke and reinstall washers and hex nut.
