Hello patroller88,

The best way to remove the 414011003 Spring Pin, is to get a punch just a bit smaller the hole that the pin is in and tap it with a hammer until it comes out far enough, then you can use a pair of pliers to pull it out the rest of the way.

Question: Replacement Motor

1137111

I have a Ryobi BTS10 table saw that is about 4 years old. The motor is bad and I looked up the cost of a replacement motor. Why would anyone in their right mind, spend $128.45 ( shipping) for a replacement motor when you can buy a complete new saw at Home Depot for $129.00 ?????????????
WJA

WJA

Hello 1137111,

My only guess is that some manufactures will price some of their parts so high on their tools. That it makes you go back to the store and purchase a new one. My feeling on that is it makes me want to purchase another brand that the manufacture actually sells parts for their tools at a fair enough price so you can repair them.

Question: Width

isn't the standard width for a miter slot 3/4"? 5/8" makes it hard to use other miter gauges
WJA

WJA

Hello dporter,

It would be nice to have the miter gauges all in standard sizes. It seems that in quite a few of the larger contractors saws and cabinets saws they are the same. But in the table top series of saws it seems they come in all different sizes. The size of the A101140804 is 5/8 width x 7/32 thickness.

Hope this helps,

I have a Ryobi BTS10 table saw. It is over three years old and has had much use. My motor has died and the switch checks out OK. But I cannot find any overload protector. Do all BTS10 table saws have this part? I see where it is in the diagram, but cannot locate it on the saw. I am rather sure that I do not have this part. It is not in or outside of the switch box and there in no hole in which the resent button would be.

Question: Elevating Shaft For BTS10

ianf

I have a replacement elevating shaft that I purchased some time ago. However, the old shaft being replaced had a threaded end to keep it in place with the bracket assembly. Can I use a clip on the one I have (same as the discontinued one pictured here) to keep it attached to bracket?

Hello jclsll2,

You will need to use wrench 0101010313 to hold the arbor while using wrench 0101010312 to remove the arbor nut. The part number for the DW708 wrench is 608563-01.

That's not what I was shipped! I was sent two Ryobi miter gauge assemblies made of plastic! I have since sent a support email complaining about this and have received no reply. I only ordered these items because Ereplacementparts.com advertised it as cast aluminum. After placing the order the item was discontinued and I was shipped cheap plastic crap. I already had cheap plastic crap which came with my Ryobi product. I would like to return these items for a refund or be issued a credit for being sent an inferior part. A reply to my email would be nice too.

Question: Push Start Sparks

Jewelstoyou

Been using my table saw for about three years as a DYIer. Today I cut three 2X6 and a *x 10 up with no problem. Then I went to cut a small piece of wood and the saw would not start,,Trird the trip switch nothing. I then touched the saw blade and it started to spin with lots of noise and sparks at the end of the motor? Turned it off and again had to push the blade to start it. Does anyone think it is only the brushes?? Also is there a simple way to get the motor out to check it? Thanks * Joseph

have a check on the ryobi website
there are some call backs on some table saws
not sure if your model is one of them
because the model differs from europe to the usa
but check and see what the cross refference is
between your model in the usa
to the european model

Question: Why Don"t You Have A Motor For S...

My motor is burnt up in my table saw. Model number bts10. Motor heats up and stops.
Is there a way to lube the electric motor?

Table saw always made a howling sound.
WJA
Reply: Why Don"t You Have A Motor For S...

WJA

Hi Chris,

There is a motor available to purchase for the BTS10 table it is part number A101140102. The motor is a sealed unit and shouldn't need to be lubed. If you can remove the gear housing, a gear lube could be added if needed. Regarding the "howling".
Because of the make up of the universal motor, they will make quite a bit more noise then a induction motor, used on most stationary table saws.
Rod Wyatt
Question: Plastic Motor Housing

Rod Wyatt

My Ryobi BTS10 table saw's plastic motor housing completely shattered. Since I have only used it twice to cut two small pieces of wood I am certain I did not "Jam" or get the saw in a "Bind" in any way. Two of the mounting ear lugs were literally broken off and the housing had "Spider Web" type cracks on the sides of the body. When I discovered this problem I was certain I would not use this unit again as I was afraid that it would literally explode and cause me bodily harm.
I removed the motor assembly from the unit and disassembled the motor with the intent of ordering a new motor housing. After some research on the Ryobi web sight I discovered the only way to repair it was to order a new motor assembly at a cost of 128 dollars which is more than I paid for the saw brand new. I attempted to "JB Weld" the housing back together and it seems to hold for the time being, however I am still afraid to use the unit. To those of you who own this unit I suggest you inspect the motor housing frequently as it presents a very, very dangerous hazard should it become cracked and could cause grave bodily damage if this plastic housing should let go while this saw in in operation. The plastic motor housing on my BTS10 was/is no thicker than a styrofoam cup over approx 80% of its surface. To the company "Ryobi" a warning - someone could really become injured should they have the same problem. It will not be me as I will buy another saw with a better design. I own other Ryobi products and have at this point been very satisfied with all of them.

My motor did the same thing. A plastic motor housing is cheap, dangerous, and junk engeneering! Might as well throw the whole pile of crap away.

My BTS10 Ryobi saw will not start anymore. It was cutting off sometimes and I thought it was over heating and cutting off due to the kill switch. Now it will not start at all. HELP!

Pull the switch housing apart. There might be saw dust preventing the mag. switch from activating. Blow out real good.
WJA
Reply: Starting BTS10 Ryobi Saw

WJA

There could be a couple of parts that could be causing the problem first and most common will be the switch part number,089015001705. the other part could be the overload switch part number,452110003. If you are doing a lot a ripping with your saw this will cause the motor to start heating up and pulling excessive amps slowly damaging the switch and overload.
Hope this helps,
WJA

My bts10 runs but with very little power and there's an electrical smell when it's running. Can you tell me if it needs a new motor or just an overload protector?

Question: Ryobi BTS10 Table Saw

wsss73@sbcglobal.net

:(Hi,
The blade on my saw is not 90 degrees to the table. I have tried to adjust it according to the instructions in the manual. Pushing the adjusting wheel in and forcefully turning it all the way to the right yeilds a setting which is about 2 or 3 degrees less than 90. Near as I can tell, the "90 degree" screw on the table top doesn't appear to do anything. Also the bevel locking lever doesn't seem to make a real secure hold on the setting.
UtahAV
Reply: Ryobi BTS10 Table Saw

UtahAV

Hi link removed,

I would check the saw for sawdust buildup. If sawdust has built up in the tilt mechanism it will limit the saw from returning to the 90 degree stop. You can usually clean the saw out with compressed air from a compressor. If you find you need to lubricate any parts of the tilting mechanism do not use any type of an oil based lubricant. The oil will attract sawdust like a magnet and gum everything up. Furniture paste wax works well as a lubricant on exposed gears or sliding surfaces of woodworking tools.

I hope this helps!

most table saws have either an eccentric bearing on the bevel adjustment, or a set of nuts that act as a stop. I have had both come from the factory set wrong. It might be worth a try to check out the full bevel mechanism and see if your stops are set correctly.

I just got the BTS12....replaced the BTS10. It is basically the same saw, but a steel top, not a alum top. Mine did NOT come with everything aligned and square....most saws rarly do. The allen screws in the table top adjust the stop in and out....thats all there really is to it. loosen the bevel lock. Adjust the bevel stop, push the saw to "0 degrees". Check it, turn the allen screw one way or the other. Push it back to "0" and check....repeat untill it is square.

My suggestion is to not waste your money and buy a new motor for $126.00 you'll end up with the same problem. Brushes are heating up and melts the housing. New saw for $119.00 and you will still have the problem.

I bought it new at Home Depot in Houghton Lake, MI and have only used it for the three months I'm in Mich. during the summer. It would not start this year and in taking the motor off the one brush was completely fused to the case and the case had to be pried open. Trying to find a service center near the 48652 area code but nothing comes up on the web.

It's apparent that there is a problem with the rip fence since you can't get one. This will be my second replacement. If Ryobi would just sell the back locking clip I would not have needed the 2nd and now 3rd one. It's very irritating to have a tool that you can't use. I will buy another brand next time.

I have owned this saw for three years-bought it used-never had any problems with the rip fence or any other part. Granted I don't use it as a Contractor's tool. I use a heavier duty saw for that. For the home craftsman, this saw will last a long time
