Discussion for the Ryobi BE318 3" X 18" Belt Sander
Hi all, broke the tension lever on my sander. (Ryobi BE318) Ordered the replacement sub-assembly, but can't get the original one out. This is a similar problem to removing the drive roller.
On this model the pulley has a molded in hex bolt, but the reduction gearing makes it really hard to hold the roller still to loosen the nut.
Anybody ever pull one of these apart, or similar? Any suggestions will be most appreciated.
Hey element_104,
One method is to attach a locking vice grip pliers on the pulley..[not too tight to damage..!]
another is to impact it loose with a pneumatic or cordless impact gun..or wedge something between the housing and pulley..
I'm not really familiar with this model but have had to use these methods on other apps..:)
hope this helps..
