Question: Tubing Too Short!

Judge

Anyone else had this problem? - The rubber tubing that goes in the gas tank goes in about 3-4 inches, and has to be inserted through a hole that is slightly smaller than the tubing (creates a good seal). However, the gas tank is 10 inches long so you can't reach the tip of the tube once it's inserted. Somehow you are supposed to attach the fuel filter to the end of this tube, but it's impossible. I spent 30-45 minutes and got nowhere. Is there anywhere to buy a long piece of this tubing so I can insert it all the way in, attach the fuel filter, then pull it back through the hole so it's only sticking in partway, then cut it off? Other thoughts on attaching this fuel filter?

Thanks to anyone with ideas.

Grant

Hello Grant,

Even though you already have the fuel line and spent your time and money on it. The easiest way to solve the problem would be to order the complete fuel tank which has the fuel lines, filter and cap included with it. It is part number 308181004.

Hope this helps,

You will need about 15" of bailing wire or tie wire.
Cut fuel line tubing at an angle at one end.
Connect fuel filter and fuel lock washer to other end of tubing.
On the gas tank, push the wire through, starting on the tubing hole side, until the wire comes out the gas cap hole.
Slide angled cut tubing on to the wire on the gas cap side, then carefuly pull back wire and tubing through the tubing hole until small portion of angled tubing pokes out.
Grab tubing and pull out enough to cut end off straight (careful not to pull out to much fuel line tubing or filter will not rest on bottom of tank).
Attach the now straight cut end to the fitting and carbirator tubing.
This will make your fuel line a little shorter, but it will still suck all the gas out. Hope this helps.
