    Removed snap ring then pulled spindle out supported it with a proper size socket and bearing support on bearing put in vise and pressed bearing off making sure bearing is supported in the proper places then removed woodruff key with punch I took the left handed screw out that holds the chuck on screwed it in the other end of the spindle and screwed the broken threads out of the drill chuck . Reversed procedure to install . I had two of these identical drills with the same problem must be weak parts

    Broken reversing spindle

    Took overlapping snap ring out took vise grips locked on broken spindle shaft hit vise grips with hammer and spindle bearing and gear came out ,then put spindle in vice loose just to support bearing and drove spindle out of bearing and gear saved wood ruff key and used a deep socket to drive gear on without hitting teeth and washer with key back on spindle used spindle to tap bearing on first and reinstalled back in housing reinstall snap ring 20 min

    Reversing shaft sheared off between bearing and chuck

    Wrench Set, Hammer, bench vise, short piece of 1\\\\

    1. Remove angle drive housing from drill, (1/2" 90 degree drill)
    2. Remove old shaft assembly remnants from housing, destroy old bearing while removing
    3. Assemble new shaft, washer and (press on) new bearing using pipe and vise
    5. Grease gears and install assembly in angle drive housing
    6. Attach angle drive housing to drill
    7. Attach chuck
    8. Make holes in stuff

    Spindle was broken off

    Take the spindle housing off of drill. Remove chuck from broken spindle, remove left hand screw first then chuck. Remove retaining clip with screwdriver. Remove spindle. Place spindle in arbor press and separate from bearing. Replace new spindle in reverse order. Screw on chuck and replace screw inside of chuck (left hand thread).

    Disassembled reversing head
    Cleaned all grease and debris.
    Reassembled gears, bearings , seals , grease and shaft.
    Works like new.

    original spindle broken

    remove retainer/spindle snap ring
    remove reversing spindle assembly
    press off original bearing and gear from old spindle
    reinstall (press, using vice) bearing and gear on new spindle
    grease gear
    reinstall spindle in 90* housing
    reinstall snap ring
    done.

    Removed the drill chuck, the spindle retaining ring, the broken spindle, the bearing and the woodruff key. Replaced all parts with the new and reassembled.
