Plsner was very loud and sounded like it was ready fly apart. After disassembly, found pulley was worn in its bore and key way worn also. Shaft appeared to be in good shape.
Dissassembled planer to find what the problem was. Removed old belt, pulley and key.
Ordered new parts to replace damaged parts.
New parts arrived in a week as promised.
Installed new parts. Had to stretch belt during installation as it was quite tight. Then reassembled the planer. It ran smoothly, and worked as normal on testing.

The nut that secures the drive pulley to the cutter barrel loosened and fell off. The pulley, key and cutter barrel shaft were damaged
Remove the top shroud. Remove the cutter deck from the base to access the end of the cutter barrel from behind the height adjustment screw.
Install the new key, pulley and nut, putting a thread locking agent on the cutter barrel threads to hopefully prevent the nut coming adrift again.
Reassemble planer after polishing and waxing the alignment rods at the four corners of the machine.
