Self propel did not work. Propel idler pulley froze and melted.

The propel idler pulley is located directly below the engine plate. I used a chain hoist to pick up the mower from the back. A short length of strong wire was hooked over the idler tensioning spring and using it with vise grips (left attached throughout the process) for removing spring tension.

Lifted the back end of the ztr riding mower using a chain lift and located the propulsion idler. Replaced it using open box end wrenches. Pulled the idler spring back in place with a length of wire.
