Question: Table Saw Motor
when switched on the motor just buzzes as though not getting enough power, checked voltage to switch, ok, bypassed switch---same buzz only. What should I check next?
Reply: Table Saw Motor
There could be a few problems that could cause this. It may be the start capacitor, internal start switch, or the windings in the motor may be shorted. You may want to locate an electric motor repair shop in your area and have them check it and then give you a quote on the repair.
Question: Is Same Motor Mount Used For All...
does this motor use the same motor mount as the 3hp using the 145TC frame?
Reply: Is Same Motor Mount Used For All...
Powermatic uses the part number 3480015 Motor Mount, on motors with a 145TC and 184C frames. These are used on the models 66 and 72A, with motors from 3hp to 7-1/2hp.
Question: Belts For '79 Model 66
is this the correct belt for my saw and do I need 3 of them? In the past they came in a set of 3
Reply: Belts For '79 Model 66
The part number 6077004 is the correct belt for the 66. In the past the manufacture did supply them in a set of three. But when they changed to a 2 belt system. They changed it so you have to order the belts individually.
Question: 5hp Single Phase Motor
Looking to replace capacitors and housing for a powermatic 66 5hp single phase motor
Reply: 5hp Single Phase Motor
Since the manufacture does not sell internal parts for this particular motor. You should have no problem locating a electric motor repair shop in your area. Take the capacitors with you and they should be able to match them up for you. If the don't have the correct ones, I'm sure that they would be able to order them for you.
Question: Running Capacitor?
Powermatic 66 3hp 230volt cabinet saw motor shuts down when ripping material. Will wait few minutes and press reset button on motor a few times then press switch and motor will run again. I am thinking it might be the running capacitor? Any thoughts on this issue
Reply: Running Capacitor?
I don't think that the running capacitor is the problem with you saw. It sounds like it is more a problem with the overload protection. If your switch looks like this 6816292 i would definitely think about replacing it. It contains the on/off switch, overload, and mag starter in it for safety purposes. If it does not look like this on you can still retrofit it to fit you saw.
Question: 1963 Model 66 Table Saw
I need a replacement guard and splitter assembly for my 1963 table saw. will this work? if not any suggestions?
Reply: 1963 Model 66 Table Saw
Powermatic didn't really change to much with the 66 for years. I bet the 2250116 guard would fit right in place.
Question: On Off Switch For Powermatic 66
The on off switch plastic cover is missing and the switch does not make contact all the time. How can I get a new switch?
Reply: On Off Switch For Powermatic 66
Over the years Powermatic has used a few different switches on their 66 table saws. If you could post the 6 digit stock number and serial number on the machine we can get your correct switch number. Also let us know the motor HP and phase.
