old power cord was coming apart exposing bare wires
1. Took top of sander off by removing 4 screws. (Rockwell sander, now Porter-Cable)
2. Removed old power cord and sleeve by untwisting two wire nuts and unscrewing bolt connecting green ground wire to handle.
3. Inserted new power cord though sleeve, stripped insulation off end of all three wires.
4. Connected new power cord to sander using the same two wire nuts, black to black and white to white. Then connect green ground wire to sander handle using same bolt.
5. Replaced top of sander and tightened it down to secure power cord and sleeve. Works Great!
( Make sure sander is unplugged before attempting repair.)

The cord, sleeve and pad needed replacement.
I removed the top half of the housing, replaced the cord and sleeve. Then removed the old pad and cleaned the surface. I put a small piece of very thin metal duct tape over the bearing hole. Then I sprayed a light coat of 3M high tack adhesive on the pad and reinstalled it....Job done!!

Broken power cord
I removed the top half of the motor housing. I disconnected the cord from the tool and made a wiring diagram of where the wires were connected. I took off the cord relief and put on the new cord. Trimmed the wires to the correct length needed. Connected the new cord. Made sure no wires would get pinched when I put the housing back on. Then put the housing back on.

Building Trades Mr. Fixit
I volunteer at a local high school with the Building Trades class. As you can imagine the kids are pretty tough on tools. I kinda have taken on the role of Mr. Fixit for the teacher. That being said, when I need specific parts for repair of a tool, I need it quick and accurate the first time. I've used Repair Parts several time now and they haven't let me down yet. Good replacement parts, fair price and on time delivery. What more can I say.
