    Great Part, high quality
I had an off-brand planer that looked like a Makita so I ordered this belt. My old belt was broken and this belt not only fit perfect, but the quality was much better than the old one from the factory.

Belt that drives planer wheel broke and also replaced planer blade

    Kelly - January 28, 2017
    Tool Type

    Planer

    Difficulty

    Medium

    Time

    15-30 minutes

    Tools Used

Screwdriver, Pliers, Wrench Set, Shop grinder

To replace belt was relatively easy
1 remove cover plate by removing screws
2 place belt on smallest wheel first and work onto larger wheel while turning the flywheel by hand ( oops forgot to tell ya to make sure the unit is not connect to any power source). Continue to work the belt onto the wheel as you rotate the flywheel ..... similar to the way you put a chain on a bicycle

To replace the planer blades was a little tricky!
1 remove the three bolts that hold the blades on the wheel
2 My kit had the new plates and blades so I had to remove the adjusting plate and install it on my new plates that hold the blade in place
3 here where I had problems ....while reinstalling the planer blades and keeper plates I noticed that the blades were wider than the keeper plates ... so not knowing I went ahead and installed them just like they came off and when I manually rotated the drum the planer blade ultimately hit somewhere on the inside of the machine .... so had to take them off and grind the width of the blades to match the width of the keeper plates....once I reinstalled the blades the drum rotated around completely

I think the belt had rubbed on an adjacent piece of wood long enough that it ruined the belt. There is an open spot on the bottom of the belt guard.

Used screwdriver to remove belt guard and used hands to start the belt on one pulley, then the other and worked it down one groove at a time. It's similar to an automotive serpentine belt. Very easy
