Questions & Answers for Poly Drive Belt 8-328

How do you take the tension off the belt to replace it ? Looks like there is no belt tensioner . Do you just remove the sprocket off the blade drum ?
Gerald for model number 2012 item #14 blade drive belt asked on 2022-03-12
Hi Gerald, Thank you for your question. Here is a link to one of our YouTube videos that you may reference on how to remove and install the belt, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCcX_8DRX5k. The planer in the video may appear different from yours, but it will give you a general idea on how to remove and install the belt. If you have any questions, please let us know. , hex wrench for larger pu lley

in order to get the belt on the pulleys, you have to align the grooves on the belt to the grooves on the pulleys. it is very very tight, and looks like its too small. i read that you could use a hex wrench on the larger pulley, to help move it around, while you used your fingers to hold the belt from slipping off. this worked well. put it on the small pulley first, Start it around the large pulley, then holding the belt and the hex wrench in your right hand, turn the pulley very slowly making sure it does not slip off. all you need to do is get it on those first couple grooves. then you don't need the hex wrench any more. you can slowly work the belt all the way over by turning and applying pressure to the side of the belt.
