Ryobi Cultivator was a dud from the beginning. Very little compression, made starting it a major task.
Having never worked on a Ryobi Cultivator before I just kept removing parts until I could access the piston. After removing the head and removing the piston from the cylinder I removed the compression ring. After receiving the new ring from Replacement Parts, I simply inserted the ring in the ring slot. Be careful doing this operation, there is a solid place in the ring slot where the ring opening must straddle. If you get this wrong the ring cannot compress when re- inserting it into the cylinder.
The reverse the process. At first pull on the starter cord I knew I have made a difference. Compression at last after fighting this monster for years. OH I forgot I replaced the head gasket also.
