Product Description ?

O-rings are designed to contain thousands of pounds of pressure by creating a seal between two or more parts. O-ring measurements are defined by the inside diameter and the thickness.

There are many causes for O-Ring failure, such as pressure, friction, temperature or chemicals. The most common are:

  • Extrusion and Nibbling
  • O-ring has ragged, tattered edges. These are commonly caused by pressure spikes which shear off tiny “bites” from the o-ring, or caused by clearance gaps.
  • Abrasion
  • One or both sides of the o-ring appear rough and slightly flattened. Commonly caused by a contact surface that is too rough, contains grit or is too smooth to allow lubrication.
  • Over Compression
  • O-ring is flattened on both sides and may have a “ring” split along its length. Commonly caused by excessive pressure or heat.
  • Heat Hardening
  • O-ring has a pitted or cracked surface, and often is flattened on both sides. Caused by temperature exceeding o-ring capacity.
  • Weather/Ozone Cracking
  • O-ring is covered in small surface cracks. Caused by exposure to ozone, UV rays and air pollution. Excessive seal stretching causes similar cracking.

Watched several videos to determine possible cause. Ereplacement parts had the schematic for my nailer, which allowed me to order the o-rings I needed. I ultimately placed 3 orders as I worked through various potential causes for the leaks. The repair boiled down to a small urethane ring in the trigger assembly that had deteriorated.

    1. Took the nailer apart and removed the piston
    2. Tried to install the o-ring in the grove on the piston because that’s what the parts list showed , but after reading more on the symptoms of why it’s not working I lubricated the nail gun really good and reassembled it and it now works great 👍

The nailer was not shooting the nails, so I removed the 4 screws securing the top cover of the nailer to expose the piston and removed the "O" ring and split ring and replaced both with the new ones ordered from Replacement Parts. Replaced the top cover and hooked up the unit to my compressor and I was in business again. It was an easy repair and replacement of parts, and not necessary to buy a new nailer. If you have the same problem I did just take your time, pay attention to where the rings were situated as you take down the internals, replace them and you will be good to go.
