Hi Steve,
Thank you for your question. To remove the nut, screw the long bolt that holds the two halves of the shroud together into the nut and tap on the bolt to get it out of the shroud. If you have any questions, please let us know. We look forward to hearing from you!

Cover had been off for over a year as i had rigged the reducer to work, swapping out the reducer was easy 10 minute job but getting the plastic cover to line up and go back on after being off so long took me an easy 30 minutes of wresting with it.
