Repair was easy, hardest part was removal of the old motor. To remove the motor mounting bracket I had to chip away some plaster that was inside the unit. Reassembly was much easier.

Removed old motor and replaced with new one. Thought I could do all this without taking the motor mounting bracket down, but I was wrong. After the bracket was removed then the new motor was secured in place and original fan was reattached to new motor. The mounting bracket with new motor was then reinstalled in housing, plugged in, and then covered with vent. The only special instructions I would offer is that the long bolts that attach the motor to the housing had to be inverted so that the new motor would sit below the mounting bracket. That was the only way to make the new motor look exactly like the old motor I removed.
