Question: 0824-20 18v Gearcase Assembly
The drill has no torque when the selector switch is on the 1st speed position, only a grinding sound when trying to drill anything. 2nd speed position works fine. Any ideas?
Question: Gearcase Assembly
I took apart my milwaukee 0824-20 1/2" 18v cordless hammer drill and the gearcase fell apart. Have no clue how it goes back together. Is there a diagram to help me reassemble the gearcase?
Reply: Gearcase Assembly
There is no parts breakdown on the gearcase assembly. It can be put back together if you know how it came apart. It sounds like you may need to replace the gearcase.:(
Question: Motor Problem
Joseph S. Coates
Model 0824-20 When I push the switch with a fully charged battery the chuck just stalls and doesn't move. I suspect the motor might be bad please comment.

Do a continuity test on the switch, if it tests ok then the motor is bad.

I have the 18 volt Li-ion drill. I am disappointed in the quality of the batteries. They have never held a charge and when it is cold they are useless. I have found that the Ni-cad batteries are much better. The drill with those batteries is a remarkable tool. Beware the Li-ion batteries are JUNK!

Milwaukee has had a problem with their new batteries. The new redlithium batteries they have jut released are excellent. I have not had any problems with mine.
