Question: Removal The Chuck

bryan

How do I remove the chuck from the spine? It almost looks like it may have a set screw on the inside, does it? Does it just turn off, does it have reversed threads?

Question: Brush Replacement

Patrick

I bought this Hammer Drill about four years ago for medium to light use. Mainly to drill 1/4 inch holes in granite counter tops to anchor wine racks and such. I used it about eight times and it all of the sudden quit working on me! At the time i was under a deadline so i just threw it in the back of my car and used a co workers for a while. I thought it might be the VSR switch. Upon further investigation i found that the Makita factory had not properly snapped the right side brush all the way into the holder.
I am not sure if this is a once in a blue moon incident or if this happens often on this model. But i definitely recommend checking the brush holders first and foremost if your drill happens to stop working! Other than that issue it has been operating properly, and as long as you don't hammer on it to hard it is a very good drill!

[QUOTE=stunami;7404]any body know how to remove the chuck on a makita hp1621 hammerdrill?"

You might try opening the chuck all the way look in side there is a screw that connects the chuck to
the armature.

I have a Makita HP1621F with a bad key-less chuck.
Is there a 1/2" key chuck that will replace this bad chuck?

I usually have little problems with Makita power tools, however Makita's keyless chuck on the hp1612f is a piece of junk!

I Agree it is junk it is a shame because the drill it self is very good.It needs a keyed chuck.

I agree about the keyless Chuck being a piece of junk. I took back the first drill because the spade bit could not be removed. The Keyless chuck fell completely apart on the replacement drill. This ruins an otherwise good product.
I did contact Makita about this problem and they completely ignored my problem. I doubt I will ever buy another Makita product. Both drills were brand new when they malfunctioned.
