The engine is a Robin Subaru EF34D. Engine has spark and will run if fuel is sprayed into carb, so I have a fuel delivery problem. There is a fuel cutoff solenoid at the base of the fuel bowl. I had assumed that when the solenoid received 12vdc it would retract, but when I tested it out of the carb, it extended when 12vdc was applied. Polarity did not matter. Is this the way it should work? If so, then when disconnected fuel should flow, correct?
If this is the case, then there is another fuel problem. The bowl fills properly. Where do I look next?
I just bought the g6100r generator. Put gas and oil in to it tried to start it. It ran for about 5 seconds and shut off. Now the pull cord is frozen and will not move and I have no idea why. Pulled spark plug and still no help.
What you described sounds exactly like a seized engine. It is almost always caused by no or not enough oil. A motor shop can tear the engine down and diagnosis exactly what happened and what caused it to happen. There will be very clear indicators of what caused the failure. Low oil, no oil, part failure, etc.
It sounds like you have a plugged carburetor. The carburetor can become clogged with dirt that has come in from either the air intake or in the gas. If gas is left in the machine for more than a couple of months it begins to breakdown and will turn to a varnish inside of the carb. The carburetor will need to be rebuilt or replaced. The replacement carburetor is part #2476232520 and is available from http://ereplacementparts.com.
