    Replaced upper drive shaft kit to engine. Dissemble motor head from drive shaft, including throttle cable and trigger. Reassembled.

    Screwdriver, Star screwdriver

    Loosen throttle retaining screws and screws attaching driveshaft to engine. Slide old driveshaft out. Slide new driveshaft into engine base aligning screw holes as the original. Reattach throttle screws. Make sure you push new driveshaft towards engine to engage new driveshaft. Start engine to ensure new driveshaft spins when clutch is engaged.

    Trimmer shaft had become bent over the years

    1. Disconnected lower shaft and trimmer head from upper shaft.
    2. Removed trigger assembly (several hex screws).
    3. Removed engine cover pieces (several hex screws).
    4. Removed old upper shaft and replaced with new upper shaft.
    5. Replaced engine cover pieces.
    6. Replaced trigger assembly. (*Note: Ensure trigger cable and kill switch wires are firmly seated in the trigger assembly and that trigger isn't crimped or under tension before setting trigger assembly screws.)
    7. Removed trimmer head from lower shaft.
    8. Replaced trimmer head onto new shaft.
    9. Connected lower shaft to upper shaft.

    1. Removed lower driveshaft from upper driveshaft.
    2. Removed the upper driveshaft. Try to keep the throttle housing on. This can be time consuming if you are not careful.
    3. Insert new upper drive shaft into trimmer.
    4. Insert lower driveshaft into upper driveshaft.
    5. Place the trimmer guard and head on the new lower driveshaft.
